UP set to face bigger shortage of pulses in the days to come
Always low on production vis-à-vis the demand, Uttar Pradesh is all set to face even a bigger shortage of pulses in the days to come. The agriculture department in its latest report to the state government has found the drought to have hit the production of many crops, especially the pulses, by as much as 90% or even more vis-à-vis 2012 in many districts. Sources said the state government would shortly send a report to the Centre on the crop production losses as estimated by the agriculture department. “A Central government team recently visited many drought-hit districts to assess the damages and the Centre would dole out compensation to the state government taking into account the repots to be made available to it both by the Central government team and the state government,” sources said.
