Poor air quality and high-prices dampen sale of green crackers
India TodayIn a bid to keep a check on pollution during winters, the Delhi government has decided to make Diwali pollution-free and has only allowed eco-friendly crackers to be used during the festival. However, the price of green crackers has gone up by 15-40 per cent during the time of the pandemic. Jain also added that only two varieties of green crackers were available last year -PhuljhariandAnar, but this time the variety of green firecrackers include, clay Anar, bulleted small bombs, sky shots, 13 shots, 50 shots, 80 shots, 100 shots. Cracker prices skyrocket General Secretary and retailer of the Sadar Bazar Cracker Association, HS Chhabra, said that green cracker has become 15-40 per cent costlier. Officials in action Delhi environment minister Gopal Rai on Tuesday also urged Delhiites to avoid bursting firecrackers as much as possible during Diwali in the interests of public health and environment.
