Karnataka election: Why this southern state is important for the BJP | OPINION
India TodayCome May 10, Karnataka heads to the polls. Ahead of the Karnataka Assembly elections, the BJP’s top leadership, including PM Modi, have made several trips to the state in a bid to send out a clear political message that Karnataka was important and the development of the state was a priority. Firstly, Karnataka is the only state in south India that the BJP has an elected government in and the party sees this state as the entry point to the rest of south India. The outcome in Karnataka – especially if the Congress wins - could also impact assembly elections in other states like Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan. Additionally, the 139th State Level Single Window Clearance Committee also approved eight large and medium-sized industrial projects worth around Rs 2012 crore, and which would provide employment opportunities to about 22,000 people.
