PF withdrawals via ATMs likely from 2025. How will it work?
Starting January 2025, Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation subscribers may be able to withdraw their provident fund savings directly from ATMs. Labour Secretary Sumita Dawra told news agency ANI that the Labour and Employment Ministry is upgrading its IT systems to streamline PF withdrawals and improve service delivery. The government also reaffirmed its commitment to improving social security, including extending benefits to gig and platform workers under the Code on Social Security, 2020. The initiative is part of the government’s broader push to improve ease of living and ensure social welfare for India’s vast workforce, which includes over 64 crore economically active individuals.
