Campus Front of India protests against Karnataka govt's decision to include RSS founder's speech in textbooks
Campus Front of India members on Wednesday, May 26 held a protest in Karnataka's Vijayanagara district against inclusion of RSS founder Hedgewar's speech in school textbooks. "This act of the government, that promotes the speech of anti-national individuals, rather than focusing on promoting harmony and unity in society, is an insult to freedom fighters," CFI said in a statement. Earlier, Karnataka government’s textbook review committee chaired by writer Rohith Chakrathirtha had defended its decision to include chapters on RSS founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar's speech in revised Kannada school textbooks for class 10. Education Minister BC Nagesh defended the inclusion of a speech by Hedgewar, saying that the textbook does not contain anything about Hedgewar or RSS, but only his speech on what should be an inspiration to people, especially the youth.
