When the man finally showed up after police intervention, the bride’s family refused to go ahead with the wedding and held the groom and his family hostage, demanding that they reimburse the wedding expenses. The bride’s father said he had fulfilled the groom’s family’s demands, including a motorbike and cash, to ensure the marriage went smoothly. Lal Bahadur said that the groom and his family finally came around 2.30 am. When the groom’s family arrived late, the bride’s relatives demanded reimbursement for the wedding expenses.
