A book reading and discussion with the writer was organised at BVV Sangh Basaveshwara College of Commerce in Bagalkot on Saturday. Veteran writer Balasaheb Lokapur said that he has now noticed a trend where works by young writers are raising discussions about social issues. But on the other hand novels and other works by young men and women are leading to heated discussions on various social issues. We seem to be in times of chaos and crisis,” he claimed and said that “in such times, it is commendable that discussions about society are being held through novels. Novelists should stay calm and speak through their works.” Novelist Rajashekar Halemane said that writing is to him an act of sacrifice.
