WA EPA 'will be complicit' if fatal shark attack occurs after scrapping of drum lines
The Shooters and Fishers Party's lone representative in Western Australia's Parliament says the environmental watchdog will be complicit in any fatal shark attacks this summer. The Environmental Protection Authority has recommended against the continuation of the Government deploying baited drum lines off WA beaches. Meanwhile, the State Government has insisted there was "nothing unusual" about seeking a decision on its catch-and-kill shark program from the Federal Environment Minister, despite already saying it would not go ahead. Mr Barnett last week flagged giving on-the-ground fisheries officers the power to issue kill orders on dangerous sharks, after ruling out using the controversial drum lines.
