Voice to Parliament referendum impacting mental health of Indigenous Australians as charities report increase in racism
ABCWiradjuri man Peter Harris has chosen to stay away from engaging in the political jargon surrounding the Voice to Parliament. "I think it's put a lot of stress on my back because a lot of people have come to me asking these questions and I don't have the answers to all of them," he said. "To me, the river's about renewal, the river's about connection, and the river flows through and washes things new, so I often come down here to feel fresh and to feel connected," she said. "If after the 14th of October, it's yes or no, that isn't the full stop for us as Aboriginal people," Ms McKenzie said. "If it comes through as a no vote, I think, overwhelmingly, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are likely to experience rejection at the societal level," he said.
