FC Barcelona's Star Defender Sign Contract Extension Till 2028 | Details Inside
FC Barcelona's star defender Gerard Martin has signed a contract extension with the club until June 30, 2028. "FC Barcelona and Gerard Martín have reached an agreement to extend the player's contract with the club until 30 June 2028. The defender put pen to paper on Thursday at midday in the presence of Barça president Joan Laporta, the director responsible for youth football Joan Soler, sporting director Anderson Luis de Souza and the director for youth football José Ramon Alexanco," read the club statement. However, the playing time of the 22-year-old has been marred by the comeback of Ronald Araujo and few other main players, as Gerard Martin has played only twice since December, both appearances in January 2025; against Barbastro in Copa Del Ray Round of 32, and Real Betis in Copa Del Ray Round of 16.
