Read our privacy policy Police have launched a murder investigation after a prisoner was found beaten to death at HMP Belmarsh. “At this stage I am open minded concerning motive, but expect this to become clear as the investigation progresses.” HMP Belmarsh is notorious for holding some of the most dangerous prisoners in the UK, as well as Wikileaks founder Julian Assange. “An investigation has been launched following the suspicious death of a prisoner inmate at HMP Belmarsh,” the force said.
