Delhi warms up to single emergency helpline number 112

Facility filters out bogus calls in a big way, betters police response time and ensures greater digital scrutiny of PCR vans rushing to help people. It has been nearly two months since the Delhi's unified emergency helpline number, 112, was launched replacing the age-old police helpline number 100. BOGUS CALLS ARE ABORTED Since the Emergency Response Support System became functional, around five lakh calls are dialled on 112, officials said. It helps in quick response of the PCR vehicles and also records the timings, including the call generated timing and the time when the vehicle reached the spot," the official said.
