Carolina Marin: I was convinced about retirement after Paris Olympics knee injury

The Hindu

Three-time world champion Carolina Marin, once convinced about retirement after the knee injury sustained at Paris Olympics, is now eyeing another comeback. Marin was forced to concede her women’s singles semifinal against China’s He Bing Jiao after she sustained an injury on her right knee during the second game at the Summer Games in August. The third anterior cruciate ligament injury of her career also meant that the 31-year-old Spaniard could not compete in the bronze medal match. But after a lot of reflection, I realised it would upset me if I was forced to retire through injury,” said Marin, who won gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
