Coldplay tickets row: Court reserves order on plea seeking to curb black marketing

India Today

The Bombay High Court on Thursday reserved its order on a plea seeking stringent guidelines to combat ticket scalping and black marketing of online tickets for major events. The plea was filed by Amit Vyas, a founder-partner of a law firm, amid growing concerns over black marketing of tickets exacerbated by technological advancements. The plea also sought the court's direction to booking platforms such as BookMyShow and event promoters Live Nation Entertainment, Big Tree Entertainment and Viagogo Entertainment, among others, to cooperate with expert and monitoring panels. The Coldplay tickets went on sale via BookMyShow on September 22, 2024, at noon, and got sold out within just 30 minutes, claimed Vyas's plea.
