Over one lakh farmers to get compensation in Nagapattinam
Over one lakh samba farmers in the district will get relief to the tune of Rs.272.60 crore, said K.A. Speaking after distributing cheques to affected farmers at Sikkal on Monday, Mr. Jayapal spoke about Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s steps for protecting the interest of Cauvery delta farmers. Karur Transport Minister V. Senthil Balaji gave away drought relief compensation announced by the State government for the delta farmers in Karur on Monday. In Kulithalai taluk, a total of 206.65 acres belonging to 152 farmers were declared to have been affected by drought and a compensation of Rs.30.99 lakh was received to be disbursed among them. In Krishnarayapuram taluk, 188.35 acres belonging to 152 farmers were deemed to be affected by drought and they were sanctioned Rs.28.25 lakh as compensation.
