‘Amit Shah’s statement against Ambedkar disrespects Indian Constitution’

“Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement against B.R. Ambedkar in the Rajya Sabha was pre-planned with an intention to disrespect the Indian Constitution,” said Communist Party of India leader K. Balabharathi. Speaking at a protest organised by Tamil Nadu Untouchability Eradication Front against Mr. Shah here on Tuesday, Ms. Balabharathi said in the guise of celebrating the 75th year of Indian Constitution, they wanted to demean the Constitution. Remarking BJP’s tragic loss in the Ayodhya district of Uttar Pradesh in the recently concluded Lok Sabha election, Ms. Balabharathi said that even when the people of the constituency gave a fitting reply to BJP by not voting for them, they have still not learned lessons. Since the Indian Constitution espouses progressive principles of secularism, federalism, fraternity, etc., the document had always prevented BJP from accomplishing its task of dividing the people in the name of religion and caste, Ms. Balabharathi said.
