BBC chair complains about critics who take ‘perverse delight in bashing’ broadcaster

The Telegraph

The BBC’s chairman has complained about critics who take a “perverse delight in bashing” the broadcaster, while calling for less political interference in its operation. In his first major speech since he took over the role in March, Dr Samir Shah has claimed that people in the UK enjoy attacking national institutions like the BBC. Only here do we take a perverse delight in bashing our finest national institutions. Only here are we prepared to throw the baby out with the bathwater.” He added: “There is no doubt that without the BBC this country will be much diminished.”
