BJP's Annamalai, TVK's Vijay weigh in on RN Ravi's anthem protocol row
India TodayThe Bharatiya Janata Party and other political voices have weighed in on the anthem protocol row between Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi and the MK Stalin-led DMK government turning the dispute into a larger political flashpoint. BJP state president K Annamalai has accused the DMK government of diverting public attention from governance failures by blaming Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi. In a tweet, Annamalai alleged that the government had refused the Governor’s request to play the National Anthem following the ‘Tamil Thai Vazhthu’ at the assembly’s winter session, violating established protocols. However, he pointed out that it was only in 1991, under former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, that both the Tamil Thai Vazhthu and the National Anthem were played during the Governor’s address in the assembly.
