Ex-Japan PM Abe: Chinese military ‘adventure’ could be ‘suicidal’

Shinzo Abe’s remarks follow an earlier comment in which he said any emergency over Taiwan would mean an emergency for Tokyo as well. Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has urged China not to provoke its neighbours or seek territorial expansion, saying that any Chinese military adventure could be “suicidal”. “An adventure in military affairs, if pursued by such a huge economy like China’s, could be suicidal to say the least,” Abe said on Tuesday. Abe’s comments “openly challenged China’s sovereignty and gave brazen support to Taiwan independence forces”, Hua was quoted by news reports as saying.
