Give details on proposed portal to monitor quality of food supplied to backward classes hostels: Karnataka High Court
The HinduThe High Court of Karnataka has directed the State government to submit details of a proposed portal, which will provide information on successful bidders to supply food and also enable submission of feedback on food products given to various pre/post-matric hostels run by the Backward Classes Welfare Department across Karnataka. The court sought details as the government said the portal, which will be launched soon, will enable students or anyone else to lodge complaints regarding the food supplied to the hostels by the chosen bidders, and it will also give information on the actions taken on such complaints. Justice Suraj Govindaraj passed the order while rejecting a batch of petitions filed by Shiv Shakthi Dal Industries and other traders of Kalaburagi, Bidar, Vijayapura, Raichur, and Yadgir districts, questioning the new conditions imposed in the tender issued for procuring food for the hostels. The court noted that details of inspections by authorities concerned will be uploaded on the portal and also the action initiated on violations found during the inspections.
