'Dysfunctional' Wingecarribee council sacked over inappropriate behaviour, failure to execute roles
ABCWingecarribee Shire Council in the New South Wales Southern Highlands has been sacked and an interim administrator appointed until 2024. NSW Local Government Minister Wendy Tuckerman said she had dismissed the coucil following recommendations made by the Commissioner. Local Government Minister Wendy Tuckerman announced the eight men would be sacked on Thursday morning, following one of nine recommendations made by the inquiry's commissioner, Ross Glover. "The commissioner has concluded in his report that the elected body did not adequately, reasonably and appropriately discharge its roles and responsibilities, at all times, during the 2016 term of council," Ms Tuckerman said. Ms Tuckerman said the council required more time to "reform itself" to give a new governing body the best chance of success.
