PAN-Aadhaar link last date nearing, here is what to do if linking fails
The deadline to link Aadhaar with PAN card is nearing. This is because, "While linking PAN with Aadhaar, a demographic mismatch may occur due to a mismatch in the following: Name, Date of Birth and Gender." The department reveals that people can rectify the mismatch by updating their Aadhaar and PAN card online or by visiting the dedicated Aadhaar and PAN service providers. How to update details on PAN card To update PAN online: Visit the NSDL PAN website - onlineservices.nsdl.com/ or the UTIITSL website- pan.utiitsl.com/ Select the "Change/Correction in PAN card details" option. How to link PAN-Aadhaar Once the details are updated, you can retry Aadhaar-PAN link at eportal.incometax.gov.in/iec/foservices/#/pre-login/bl-link-aadhaar The IT department warns that according to IT rules, if an individual fails to link their Aadhaar number as per section 139AA of the Income-tax Act, 1961, their PAN will become inoperative.
