For first time, India records more women than men, finds latest NFHS

As per the fifth round of the National Family and Health Survey, there are 1,020 women for every 1,000 men As per the fifth round of the National Family and Health Survey, India now has more women than men. There are 1,020 women for every 1,000 men as per the report released by the Union health ministry on Wednesday. In 1990 when Nobel laureate Amartya Sen coined the term “missing women”, there were 927 women per 1,000 men in India. The government on Wednesday released the factsheets of key indicators on population, reproductive and child health, family welfare, nutrition and others for India as well as 14 states and UTs, clubbed under phase two, of the 2019-21 NFHS-5 here.
