Anitha urges citizens to stay alert amid heavy rain

Vijayawada: Minister for home and disaster management, Vangalapudi Anitha, in light of the formation of a depression over the Bay of Bengal causing heavy rains, has urged the administrative machinery to stay alert. She called on citizens, particularly in the Tirupati district areas of Tirumala and Sullurupeta, to remain vigilant due to the heavy rainfall. She instructed the district administration to take steps to evacuate residents from flood-prone areas to safer locations, ensuring there is no loss of life or property.The home minister further directed the disaster management department to send regular alerts to farmers, shepherds, and fishermen via phone calls and text messages to keep them informed and safe. She noted the swift flow of water at Malwadi Gundam waterfall in Tirupati and emphasized the need for surrounding residents to stay vigilant, especially after the opening of sluice gates in Sullurupeta and Kalangi.
