Podcaster with history of racially abusing Indigenous Australians featured at conference chaired by Warren Mundine

A far-right US media figure who has made racist attacks on Indigenous Australians spoke at a conservative conference chaired by leading No campaigner Warren Mundine. Comedian Rodney Marks said Australia’s traditional owners were "violent black men" while No campaigner Gary Johns said if Indigenous people wanted a voice, they should "learn English". Mr Mundine has also said publicly that Yes campaigner Noel Pearson racially vilified him by calling him a "glove puppet" of white conservative groups. Mr Mundine's Recognise a Better Way group works in partnership with the "Fair Australia" No campaign run by the conservative lobby group Advance Australia. Mr Mundine defended Mr Newman’s comments about "disaffected Aborigines" as a part of legitimate debate but said he disagreed with his description of single mothers, saying, "I’ve never seen any evidence of that".
