It is now known across the world as the house that starred as the home of the aristocratic Crawley family in the fictional Downton Abbey. But census records have shed new light on Herbert's great-grandfather, the 5th Earl, and his relationship with Egyptologist Howard Carter, who discovered the tomb of 14th century Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun in 1922.
