CNN — Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and his party outperformed President Donald Trump’s fundraising operation last month for the first time, raking in a massive $80.8 million to the $74 million Trump and the Republican National Committee collected, newly released figures show. View Trump and Biden head-to-head polling Biden’s May fundraising boost continues the rapid upward trajectory of his campaign since he won the South Carolina primary and effectively ended the Democratic primary race with a near-sweep on Super Tuesday in early March. In April alone, Biden’s campaign took in $16 million in donations of $200 or less – more than three times the small-dollar donations collected by Trump’s campaign that month, Federal Election Commission records show. Biden’s small-dollar haul last month topped $17.4 million; while the Trump campaign brought in roughly $5.4 million in May in small contributions.
