澳洲有望于2012年出口骆驼肉
牛肉靠边站,骆驼肉要登场了!一位埃及商人近期向澳大利亚某地方议会提交申请,希望在野生骆驼密集的南部地区开设骆驼屠宰场和肉产品加工厂,并称此举不但能解决当地的生态问题,同时还能提供300个工作岗位。如果这项申请获准,澳大利亚有望于2012年开始对外出口骆驼肉。据这位商人介绍,骆驼肉在所有肉类中是含脂肪量最少的,其外形和口感与牛肉相似,不过,铁和维生素C含量比牛肉和羊肉都要高。 自1840年由印度引入以来,目前在澳大利亚内陆300万平方公里的区域内约有100万只野生骆驼,并且每9年数量就会增加一倍,致使当地生态环境受到破坏。澳大利亚政府于2010年推出骆驼捕杀计划,投入了1900万澳元用于治理野生骆驼。 Originally introduced in 1840, mainly from India to provide transport, there are currently more than 1 million feral camels roaming over 3 million square km of outback Australia. "A LITTLE CHEWY" El Ashram said he applied Friday to the Port Pirie rural council for permission to develop what would eventually be the largest abattoir in Australia, capable of processing 100,000 animals a year.
