Islanders avoid frustration, get a boost from newcomer Pierre Engvall
New York TimesANAHEIM, Calif. — One phrase that gets bandied about frequently this time of the year about teams well out of the playoff race is that they’re “playing free.” Islanders coach Lane Lambert used it a couple of hours before facing the Ducks on Wednesday night at Honda Center, when asked about lowly Anaheim and San Jose, Saturday’s opponent. He’s going to be an impact player for us night in and night out.” Lambert said, “The communication part of it and the understanding of what the language is that we use, different things that are different from other places, it takes some time to acclimatize to.” Engvall credited his teammates for assisting him in that regard. The Islanders were “pressing” a bit in the second period when they were trailing despite controlling play, Lambert said, and Fasching’s goal helped turn the tide. pic.twitter.com/wCuHN67l6l — New York Islanders March 16, 2023 “I’m pretty happy with him,” Lambert said.
