Meghalaya govt extends night curfew in East Khasi Hills district amid Covid spike
India TodayAmid a rise in the number of coronavirus cases, the Meghalaya government has extended night curfew in East Khasi Hills district in the state till December 13. In view of the prevailing situation concerning Covid-19 in the state and in order to stem the spread of the contagious virus, the District Magistrate of East Khasi Hills District on Sunday issued an order and extended the night curfew in the district which will come into effect from December 7 to December 13. The order issued by Isawanda Laloo, District Magistrate of East Khasi Hills district, stated that it has been issued under Section 144 CrPC together with Regulation 3 of the Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases, Covid-19 Regulations, 2020. By issuing another order the District Magistrate of East Khasi Hills district has prohibited all forms of large public gathering and congregation including social, political, entertainment, academic, cultural etc., without permission from the Office of the District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills.
