Erode (East) bypoll 2025 | Three candidates file nominations on day one
The HinduThree candidates, including two independents, filed their nomination papers on Friday to contest the byelection for the Erode Assembly constituency. Returning Officer and Corporation Commissioner N. Manish received the nominations from candidates between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Corporation office. The nomination papers were verified by officials K. Padmarajan of Mettur in Salem district, nicknamed ‘Election King’ for having unsuccessfully contested a record number of elections, was the first candidate to file his papers with the Returning Officer. Another candidate A. Noor Muhamad of Sundarapuram, Coimbatore, said that despite efforts to promote 100% voter turnout, only 65% of the electors typically vote in elections, with many failing to exercise their democratic right.
