At Least 22 States, UTs Reopened Schools for All Students, 92% Teachers Vaccinated, Says Centre
News 18At least 22 states and Union Territories have reopened schools for all students after a prolonged closure due to the Covid pandemic while over 92 per cent of the teaching personnel in India have been vaccinated, the Union Education Ministry said on Tuesday. While several states began partially reopening schools for senior classes in October last year, they again had to be closed due to the aggressive second wave of COVID-19 in April this year. The states which have reopened schools for all classes include Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, and Rajasthan, among others. Six states and UTs, including Ladakh, Gujarat, Punjab, Nagaland, and Jharkhand, have reopened schools for students enrolled in classes six to 12.
