Centre promises full support for completing Polavaram project in time
Water Resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu met Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. On the occasion, the Union Minister assured that the Centre would extend all help to complete the Polavaram irrigation project as per the deadlines. Responding positively, the Union Minister told Mr. Ramanaidu that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was paying special attention to the Polavaram project, and promised that he would visit the project soon. Mr. Ramanaidu said the State government wanted to complete construction of the diaphragm wall by December 2025 and the entire irrigation project by December 2027. The diaphragm wall construction had already begun with two cutters, and from March, work would begin with a third cutter, he said, and requested the Union Minister to extend support in the construction of the earth-cum-rockfill parallel to the diaphragm wall.
