PM condemns anti-Israel vandalism

Peter Ryan: Well Sally, Jim Chalmers, he's been really batting away questions that the future fund shake up, a changed mandate and the first statement of expectations in 15 years amounts to political interference that future governments could be tempted to raid the fund for their own political projects. We haven't interfered with the independence of the Future Fund, we haven't interfered with expectations around rate of return or risk, but we have said to the Future Fund and we've worked with them closely behind the scenes before this announcement today to make sure that where they are weighing up investments which have similar rates of return and similar risk profiles that it would be in Australia's interest to make sure we're continuing to build housing stock, we're continuing to get the energy transformation right and we're hardening our infrastructure. Peter Ryan: Well that's right Sally, those assurances don't appear to be making much of a difference to Peter Costello who as a Liberal Treasurer founded the Future Fund back in 2006.
