Karnataka Chief Minister urges Naxals to surrender and join mainstream
The HinduUrging Naxalites to join mainstream society, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday said the government will be sensitive to the matter and work within the legal framework to facilitate their surrender. He said that Naxals were interested in holding talks to come to the mainstream and the government welcomed the move within legal framework. However, over the last two decades, activities are being reported in Malnad resulting in violence and loss of life of innocent persons, police, and Naxalites.” Mr. Siddaramaiah said: “Though it is painful, no constitutionally-committed government can keep quiet. I promise that the policy will be simplified and effectively implemented.” As per the policy, Mr. Siddaramaiah said financial assistance would be given in phases, and those surrendering weapons would receive financial assistance, skill training, and rehabilitation.
