Lokayukta raids eight officials for disproportionate assets in Karnataka
India TodayIn a crackdown on corruption, Karnataka Lokayukta officials conducted raids on properties linked to eight government officers accused of amassing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income. The early morning raids targeted high-ranking officials, including Bengaluru’s Joint Commissioner of Transport Department Shobha, Kadur Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr SN Umesh, and Ravindra, an inspector in the Minor Irrigation Department based in Basavakalyan. Other officials under investigation are Khanapur Tahsildar Prakash Sridhar Gaikwad, retired Road Transport Officer S Raju from Tumakuru, Assistant Executive Engineer Huchesh of Gadag Municipality, Ballari Welfare Officer RH Lokesh, and BESCOM Junior Engineer Huliraj in Raichur. The Lokayukta had conducted a similar statewide raid on December 12 last year, targeting properties of ten government officials.
