Kerala Governor grants permission for varsity amendment Bill to be tabled in Assembly
The HinduGovernor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar has granted the Kerala government permission to table the University Laws Bill, 2025, following a delay caused by a necessary scrutiny. The government had tabled the Kerala State Private Universities Bill, 2025, and the Kerala University Laws Bill, 2025, on March 3, The latter pertains to the laws governing Kerala University, Calicut University, Mahatma Gandhi University, Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit and Kannur University, and was referred to the Subject Committee for review the same day. However, the Raj Bhavan had reserved permission to table the Kerala University Laws Bill, 2025, which addresses Cochin University of Science and Technology, Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University and APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. Due to these procedural requirements, the government proceeded with tabling the other university-related Bills, but had no choice but to defer the introduction of the Kerala University Laws Bill, 2025.
