Businessman held in Hyderabad for selling expired milk powder: Police

Hyderabad: The city police arrested a businessman for selling adulterated and expired Nandini milk powder meant for public distribution scheme to school children in the name of “Ksheera Bhagya Scheme” introduced by the State government in Karnataka. The arrested person, Chittaboina Damodar, 46, who was into milk powder business, was a resident of Bholakpur in Secunderabad. Damodar found illegally transporting, storing and selling adulterated and expired Nandini milk powder meant for public distribution scheme to school children in the name of “Ksheera Bhagya Scheme” introduced by the State government in Karnataka. Police inquiries revealed that Damodar was purchasing the expired milk powder from one Ravi, who was a native of Karnataka, for Rs.180 per kg and selling it Rs.240 per kg to needy customers at higher prices and gaining money illegally.
