Fire incident: MP visits sewage farm in Mysuru

The Hindu

MP for Mysuru Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar on Saturday visited the sewage farm on the city outskirts where a fire incident was reported a few days ago that raised health concerns among the locals. The MP spoke to the people in charge of the plant where over five to six lakh tonnes of legacy waste has accumulated over the years. Speaking to reporters, the MP said that he has sought a report from the Deputy Commissioner and also the Commissioner of the Mysore City Corporation on the fire incident. “Such incidents bring a bad name to the city which has the reputation of having clean air and also spoil the city’s air quality.” While the people in charge of the plant claimed that there was no negligence on their part over the mishap, the MP said it is suspected that the reason for the fire was triggered by a spark from a local fire near Chamundi Hills.
