The Hindu

The Silladi beach development project at Nagore is progressing rapidly and is expected to be completed within the next four months, according to official sources. The funds are being utilised for infrastructure development, including the construction of cement roads, parking facilities, a food court, street lights, separate toilets for men and women, a compound wall, and drinking water facilities. Additionally, under the Constituency Development Fund, Nagapattinam MLA J. Mohamed Shanavas has allocated ₹48 lakh for further enhancements, including a grand entrance arch, paver block walkways, landscaped gardens, children’s play equipment, purified drinking water supply, seating arrangements, and a designated “Namma Nagore” selfie point. With key religious landmarks such as Nagore Dargah, Velankanni Church, and Sikkal Murugan Temple drawing thousands of pilgrims annually, the upgraded Silladi Beach is set to enhance the region’s tourism appeal and economic prospects.
