The true doer is the Divine

In the Bhagavad Gita,, Lord Krishna offers profound advice to Arjuna, emphasising the importance of humility and surrender. Krishna urges Arjuna to arise, conquer his foes and enjoy prosperous rulership, but with a crucial caveat: acknowledge that the true doer is the Divine, not the individual ego, said Swami Mitranandaji. Krishna tells Arjuna, “Tasmat tvam, uttishtha yasho labhasva jitva shatrun bhunkshva rajyam samriddham mayaivaite nihatah purvam eva nimitta matram bhava savya sachin.” How should one understand this? By surrendering our ego and acknowledging the Divine as the true doer, we can become empty vessels, akin to a bamboo flute in the hands of the Divine. Just as the flute becomes a musical instrument in the hands of a skilled musician, we too can become instruments of the Divine, creating harmony and beauty in the world.
