This week UK writer Sarah Vine reviews A Spy Among Friends, giving it three stars out of five This is especially true with big-budget drama or glossy documentaries. And while all these shows are high quality – indeed in some cases exceptional – as a punter it feels like there's a real cultural shift going on here. Sarah, pictured, admits that she feels like all the character is being sucked out of British TV, with new shows 'lacking soul' Monty Python is the obvious one, as well as Fawlty Towers. It feels like all the character is being sucked out of British TV, to be replaced by shows that, yes, are in many cases better produced and more starry – but also weirdly lacking in soul.
