About 75 per cent of women with stage 4b ovarian cancer live for at least 12 months after they're diagnosed, but Anne Royters from Warilla, New South Wales, who received the news almost two years ago, is doing more than just surviving. Key points: Anne Royters has been living with ovarian cancer for the past 18 months She believes that exercise and fresh air are helping her maintain a positive attitude Ms Royters has participated in the Cancer Council's Ride500 fundraiser Ms Royters believes her positive attitude and love of nature have helped her maintain her quality of life. Ride500 'pin-up girl' Cancer Council NSW community relations coordinator Kelly Dinnerville says Ms Royters is the only person she can think of who is participating in the Ride500 initiative while undergoing chemotherapy. Participants in the event are encouraged to ride 500km during September to raise funds and awareness — something Ms Dinnerville says is a "great fit" for Ms Royters. "She rides her bike pretty much every day anyway, so she's raising funds for others going through cancer," Ms Dinnerville said.
