Two men accused of a bungled late night raid on a beachside retreat that left a man and teenage woman dead are alleged to have fled the scene almost empty-handed. Charlyze Hayter, 19, died with Jackson Gilmour, 29, when she allegedly confronted the tradie inside his home at Rye on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula in the early hours of December 2. Hayter's alleged partners-in-crime, Jarod Smit, 25, and Mason Matticoli, 24, are accused of fleeing the scene, but allegedly only escaped with a black duffel bag and bank cards worth just $100. Mr Gilmour's friends told Daily Mail Australia that Ms Hayter had been a friend of the builder and carpenter, who had himself shown signs of a troubled life in the months before he was killed. Jackson Gilmour was shot dead in a home invasion that went wrong Charlyze Hayter reportedly attacked Jackson Gilmour in his own home before he shot her dead It is understood Mr Gilmour had become isolated from his old mates in the months before he died amid fears he had fallen in with a ‘bad crowd’.
