New Orleans truck attack: Joe Biden says FBI found ISIS-inspired Shamsud-Din Jabbar posted videos hours before rampage
Hindustan TimesNew Orleans attack: US President Joe Biden said on Wednesday evening that the FBI found social media videos posted by Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a US Army veteran, just hours before he drove a pickup truck into a crowd of New Year revellers in New Orleans, killing at least 15 people. Joe Biden, describing the attack as “despicable”, said that hours before Shamsud-Din Jabbar had posted videos online “indicating that he was inspired by ISIS”. A black flag with white lettering lies on the ground rolled up behind a pickup truck that a man drove into a crowd on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, killing and injuring a number of people, early Wednesday morning, Zion Parsons, 18, of Gulfport, Mississippi, told news agency Associated Press that he saw the truck “barreling through, throwing people like in a movie scene, throwing people into the air.” “Bodies, bodies all up and down the street, everybody screaming and hollering,” said Parsons, whose friend Nikyra Dedeaux was among the people killed. Joe Biden said while law enforcement was investigating any “possible connection with the attack in New Orleans” there was “nothing to report on that score at this time.” Billionaire Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla Inc. and a Donald Trump ally, said the company “confirmed” that the Cybertruck explosion was “caused by very large fireworks and/or a bomb carried in the bed” and was “unrelated to the vehicle itself,” in a post on his X platform.
