Detectives in east London said it was “sheer luck” that a 28-year-old man who, separately, suffered multiple stab wounds in Ilford, east London, last night was not killed. Detective Constable Kirk Patson said: “It was sheer luck that the victim in this case wasn’t fatally wounded.” Appealing for help investigating, he said: “If you are reluctant to contact officers direct call anonymously via Crimestoppers, but please do make the call.” The man was treated in hospital, where his condition was said to be serious but not life-threatening. In another east London case, detectives investigating the murder of a 17-year-old in Canning Town made a fourth arrest.
