Moily’s comment stirs up leadership issue again; D.K. Shivakumar says he will comply with Kharge’s directions

Deputy Chief Minister D.K. He was replying to a question on veteran Congressman and former Chief Minister M. Veerappa Moily’s reported statement that no one could stop Mr. Shivakumar from becoming the Chief Minister. Mr. Moily, speaking in Karkala recently, reportedly said that it was a matter of time before Mr. Shivakumar became the Chief Minister, and ”nobody can stop it.” He had further told Mr. Shivakumar, who was also on the dais, “You should not speak on the issue. It is a settled matter.” ‘Up to high command’ When his response was sought on the speculation, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that the whole thing was left to the decision of the high command. IT/BT Minister Priyank Kharge reiterated that the Chief Minister’s post was “not vacant.” A couple of months ago, Mr. Kharge sternly warned Ministers and legislators of the Congress not to make statements regarding sharing of power between Mr. Siddaramaiah and Mr. Shivakumar.
