Hamilton urges Bubba Wallace to hold head high moving ahead
Associated PressMEXICO CITY — Seven-time Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton wants NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace to stay off social media, hold his head high and ignore his detractors as Wallace returns from a one-race suspension. Wallace found an ally in Hamilton in 2020 when, as NASCAR’s only Black driver at the top level, Wallace became a central figure of the nation’s racial justice reckoning. Just keep on pushing, keep your head up, do not give up, do not listen to the things that are being said, do not read what’s on social media and just keep believing,” Hamilton said after qualifying third Saturday for the Mexico City Grand Prix. So I just ask him to hold his head high and don’t give up.” Wallace earlier Saturday acknowledged the suspension was difficult on him.
