Speaking at the post-match presentation, as quoted by Cricinfo, Azam said that the plan after tea was to go for the chase as Sarfaraz and Saud Shakeel took some chances. The Pakistan skipper said that the plan was to keep things simple till the final session and if they had a partnership in the middle order, then it would have been a different plan. Pakistan ended the 2021-23 World Test Championship cycle without a win at home, but Azam said there were positives and they wanted to work on them. The Pakistan skipper also hailed Sarfaraz after his dream comeback into the team and said that the wicketkeeper didn't allow the fire in him to die in the last four years.
