
Furious passengers hit out at '19th century' conditions on overcrowded train with all seats and standing spaces filled and just one working toilet for 500 people

One woman described waiting for over two hours alongside her two children to get on board the train to South Yorkshire on Saturday, only to be left standing on a cramped service. Consumer affairs expert Martin Lewis took to X, formerly Twitter, and said conditions were 'disgraceful' and 'degrading' People described all seats and standing spaces being occupied on the carriages with barely room for luggage Amelia Beckett tweeted: 'State of St Pancras right now. Sam Lister wrote that there were over two hour queues to board a train to Sheffield at St Pancras Conditions on board the trains were described as uncomfortable and crowded, with every available standing position occupied One man shared this picture from the service, after spending £97 on a ticket from Sheffield Linsey Farnsworth described crowded condition at St Pancras waiting for a train, despite having a reservation 'We waited well over two hours just to get on and there was a huge line of people still waiting when our train took off.' Describing the service as 'disgraceful', he added: 'Scores are sitting in mid train corridors so I guess 500 people on it and only one working toilet at one end, so people must crawl over each 100s to reach it.
